H. Pylori Antigen
Direct stool antigen detection for the ulcer- and gastritis-associated bacterium.

Physician-reviewed
What this panel measures
- H. pylori stool antigen — direct detection of an active infection
Why providers order it
- Upper abdominal pain, burning, or gnawing discomfort
- Nausea, early fullness, or bloating after meals
- History of ulcers or gastritis
- Confirming that a previous H. pylori treatment actually cleared the infection
Proton-pump inhibitors (omeprazole and similar) and antibiotics can suppress the bacteria and cause false negatives — most providers recommend stopping them 2 weeks before testing, with guidance.
H. Pylori Antigen: frequently asked questions
What is H. pylori?
It is a bacterium that infects the stomach lining and is the leading cause of ulcers and chronic gastritis worldwide. Many people carry it for decades with vague or no symptoms.
Stool test or blood test for H. pylori?
Stool antigen testing detects an active infection only. Blood antibody tests stay positive for years after an infection has cleared, so they cannot tell you whether you still have it — which is why we use stool antigen.
How long do results take?
H. pylori antigen results are typically reported within 48 hours and physician-reviewed before release.
Often ordered together
Comprehensive Stool Analysis
Microbiome mapping, digestion markers, inflammation, and pathogen detection in one panel.
Celiac & Gluten Sensitivity
Celiac serology with total IgA to rule out false negatives, plus gluten sensitivity markers.
